Apx Alx is a gifted multifaceted artist from Phoenix Arizona, most known to me for his work with Gorgeous Jefe as a producer, however he has a potent catalog of lyricism that should not go unnoticed.

Released September 12, 2024 The Before I Dip EP is a showcase that his production is not the only tool in his kit that can be used to craft electrifying music.

Tattile is one of two solo tracks on the project but Alx carries his weight entirely. The mixing and guitar are layered beautifully over some dreamy bells, sounding like a cruise through LA to the beach on a sunny afternoon. The breath control and depth of the lyrics show that Apx Alx is far more than just a producer.

Time stands still sounds like a James Bond villain slowly turning in an oversized chair while he smoking a cigar the size of a baby’s arm. An ode to the process, this track has become one of my personal favorite verses from Jefe in their immense catalog. Lord Ra also has a top 5 verse here, definitely hope to see a full project from these two at some point in the future. Features of this caliber by Lord Ra and Gorgeous Jefe are a great surprise, especially following the incredible verses and projects that already came out during 2024.

Blessings On Me features Jefe, and an intoxicating synth melody that sounds straight out an 80s movie end credits. The verses are filled with prayer-level mantras, and finishes off with an incredible guitar solo.

Some people listen to music for the “fast food” purpose of a cool beat with some less-than-desirable lyrics, but thay just ignore the words and nod their heads. When you listen to Apx Alx, you connect to the music on a spiritual level while still maintaining the production we have come to expect from him on excellent collaborations with Gorgeous Jefe and company.

Underground Hip-Hop pages on YouTube have started picking up songs from the project, and with another Gorgeous Jefe project around the corner rumored to be fully produced by Apx Alx, this won’t be the last we hear from him in the 2025 calendar year.
