I know, I know, no one needs another podcast. Thats fine, stay here and read, I won’t yell at you.

The goal of this podcast is to create shorter form content where we hear directly from the creators of our favorite stuff. That’s why the spiritual episode one is going to be this Pariah Pete interview, with the main focal point being the artists voice.

Videos are becoming more and more essential for independent artists, and maintaining a digital marketing apparatus like a podcast is simply not sustainable for someone who is working or busy spending all their time doing the job of creating the thing that telling people about it seems like putting a camel through the eye of a needle. The costs of video and podcast production are much higher both in money and time as well. This leads to artists neglecting this area, and many organizations that take part in their production and subsequent marketization rely on creating content for shock value as opposed to utility. This is something I would like to change, and value in platforms like @PHX_HipHop who’s farthest extent of “ruffling feathers” is making a list of artists in the valley.

In order to fund the new era, I will be focusing more on monetizing the site through making limited run zines, as well as more staple products like the Year in Review zines which I have now done for 2024 and 2025. I will also work with an outsourcing platform to supply merchandise. For now, hoodies and tees are made-to-order outside of my control. In due time I would love to find a local print shop to help me fulfill orders.

My mission in creating Sunset-City as a blog was to provide a space for artists to get the appreciation they deserve, and in finding a way I can do so that generates revenue will move the needle toward generating move revenue for all the artists in the zines as well. Over time, I hope to get them placed into venues, record stores, bookstores, and more. There is also talk of trading cards…
