Arizona Hip-Hop is hard to define and even harder to ignore.

2025 was a year of radical collaboration in the Valley. From the Phoenix Psypher sessions to the Cactus Collabs series, the scene moved beyond individual wins to build a unified, energetic movement. We created the PHX 2025 Year in Review zine to document this history as it happens. Many of you reading this could very well be a part of the next issue if you make music and play shows in Arizona.

This volume is a tangible piece of the culture, featuring the “Hall of Flame” – our picks for the best albums of the year, the year’s most essential music videos, and spotlights on the heavyweight collaborators who maintain a solid individual identity—from ilxtus and L.O.R.D Maiya to the Halal Boys to Rare Air to Jamila. This Zine is a celebration of collaboration and artistic expression, brought to you by PHX Hip-Hop and Sunset-City. Every copy is a product of local DIY production, from the initial layout to the final print, ensuring that the physical zine feels as raw and authentic as the music it documents.
