A project I have heard teased for some time has finally made it’s streaming debut. Gorgeous Jefe and Fresco came together to bless us with their highly anticipated collaborative effort Limited Edition FM. With the production coming from Fresco, we get to hear Jefe focus solely on his lyrics and delivery over the knocking instrumentals and addicting sample chops. Hosted by Lord Ra, this is a change of pace from the gritty, heavier production on other projects we hear him featured on, which is a breath of fresh air.
“You can see it in my face, I attract don’t chase”
The wavy atmosphere fits perfectly under Jefe’s natural cadence, with similar sample chops to what we are used to hearing. Jefe has the ability to fit sonically snug in whatever pocket he has in front of him make this track great for an intro.
“Cant respect clean teeth when you ain’t got toothpaste”
The drums on this beat are way more spaced out leaving room for the punchlines to really hit. Jefes flow on here is impressive, bro really does not miss. Ra frequents his own beats, which is not something every rapper can do, though it is very interesting to hear him spit bars over someone elses production style.
“I rap like the bills due, cuz’ the bills due”
This might just be one of my top 5 Jefe tracks. His ability to dissect his past on a record while still making a banger is incredible.
“Been about the cabbage man my pockets sauerkraut”
There are not many artists doing the full scale projects with this level of experimentation on the sound, skits, concept and delivery, out of Arizona especially.
This is one of my favorite beats I have heard Ra and Jefe on. Filled to the brim with Odes to the grind and testaments to the City, this one is sure to remain in rotation. Lord Ra delivers over production we would not hear him on normally, and the sample is so addictive you can’t help but run it back to focus more on the lyrics.
“Give me the beat its a two day turn around”
Motherland Freestyle has a visual that dropped recently animated by Woodhall Artoons. The freestyle with Ra hosting and doing the intro is a great way to close out the project. If you haven’t checked out Fresco on any other platforms make sure you do so ASAP. He is a great producer as we can tell from this project, also a very talented DJ, lyricist and b-boy. Having been making music for several years, Fresco is not new to making music. Products of Infamy is a group featuring Fresco verses from up to 6 years old just as lyrically dense as his recent music. Only thing I wish we got from this project was a Fresco verse, hopefully this shall come in time.
